Aug 21: Squirt Alirt!
The following ad went out today on Craigslist.
"Hello. I never pictured myself having to do this but we are beside ourselves.
Our 17 year old brown miniature Dachshund went missing last night. We just moved hear a week ago and last night he was put out in the backyard unattended. He found a hole under the fence and we cannot find him. We have had him long enough that we have 3 children who were born after we got him. Our 16 year old is beside herself as he was her 8th birthday present. A senior when we got him he is ancient now. He has a cyst on his foreleg that looks like he has been pumping iron with that arm. he has a cyst on his pectoral muscle that is also sizable. He is almost half gray all over and has a bald/hot spot on his hip and rear leg. This is from an allergy ( and resultant chewing) that the vet was unsure of at this point. He is almost blind and likely deaf. The truth be told we were planing to taking him to be put to sleep on this coming Monday. But, we love him VERY much. He has just been suffering lots of aches and pains lately...oh and his hips go out from time to time and it makes him sit down suddenly and then sort of walk sideways for a few seconds. My kids are all out knocking on doors in the neighborhood seeing if anyone picked him up.
We are located on the East end of Asbury Way off of Donjoy. Please if you have seen him or have him call me at 859-xxx-xxxx or 859-xxx-xxxx.
I may have been planning to put him to sleep but I DO NOT want him to die alone or away from his family.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.
Sean "
Now we do miss Squirt terribly and are worried silly about where he could be. Those of you who inclined to pray to Saint Francis, then please do so. If that is not your particular flavor, then please please pray for his swift return to us. The thought of him dieing alone is one I don not want to live with.
(Oh ant BTW, I misspelled Alert intentionally for Mary!)

Aug 20: As a Star Wars fan,....
I could not pass up the oppurtunity to share this video find. while somewhat AIBOesque in many ways, this critter is awesome. I could have done without the Jaba cameo though.
Aug 19: I'm Feelin That Feelin
OK, so a while back Steph told us to get a movie and watch it. The name of the movie was Fireproof, and we did as she asked. It turned out to be a really great movie, that I would recommend highly to just about anyone (couples families, married couples.).
I don't want to spoil it but lets just say its about a couple saving their marriage or at least one member willing to do what it takes to do so. Within the movie is a book/notebook with a "dare" in it to follow steps for 40 days to ave your Marriage. The name of this book is The Love Dare. Recently I decided to pick up the book for myself. Now admittedly I think the book is geared towards those with troubled or even DEEPLY troubled marriages. I just felt that I could always work towards being a better husband to Mary. So I got the book. I started into the process and found somethings that I am already doing. Confused at first I just decided to try harder to do those things more. Unfortunately, I misplaced the book in the move so fell off the track. I found it though so now I will start over and continue to improve.
On a similar note, I bought myself a t shirt recently. Shopping by myself in a Christian Bookstore next to the Dentist office where Nyoka was getting hers cleaned, I found a T-shirt. Its the simple shirt in the picture above. Click the image to get a large view of it that is readable. Now I have MANY T-shirts with slogans and snarky comments. This one joined my collection and became my instant favorite. I wear it with great pride. What does it say? "i love my wife." No fancy fonts. No ALL Caps. In fact, there are no caps at all. Just the simple understated message that speaks so loud to me and to those who see it. Too sad that so many people comment that my wife must have bought it for me. Men and women alike seem to doubt that I would by it for myself. Nope, Mary wasn't even with me. I bought it for and by myself. And with good reason I think. I love her and she has MORE than earned that love.

Aug 18: I left Facebook last week...and other developments of life.
Well lots of change in my and our lives this past week or two. Mostly good change. Some change was difficult in a mundane way. Other will be better once I adjust.
I left Facebook permanently last week. To many negatives to make it worth my time anymore. Too many hugely negative people out to say hurtful things. Too many racist people with racist jokes or rhetoric. Too any viruses. too much spyware and Malware. Too much unwanted advertising especially in the Game I liked. I finally just realized in a flash that I had had enough. Its rather liberating.
We moved into the new house. We are still doing alot of unpacking but we are already doing things to make it a home.
Its a big home. click the picture of Mary unpacking to get to the photo albums of the house. I still need to take some exterior shots but these work for the inside. It is very very much home.
And today, the little lovelies that we call our children returned to school. makes for early mornings again.
I am interested in how the schedule change will effect them. We have 3rd grad, 7th, 10th and 12th. lets see who copes the best. Gio, Joee, and I are left alone to our own devices. I need to get lots of cleaning supplies to entertain myself and keep the new house looking good while everyone is off at school. Gio thinks that he is already helping me. He took off his diaper and did doodle all over the family room and computer office. Yummy is the only word I can come up with.

Aug 5: Movin' to the groovin'
OK, we found our new home to rent. Kinf of a humorous thing there, though. Guess which house that we got.
If you are capable of seeing the thumbnail image to the right, then you should be able to deduce its the picture of the house in my last post. It met most of our requirements and a couple extras. It just wasn't in Kenton County. Oh well. It all works out in the end. we got a beautiful 4 bedroom house with sculpted lawn and fenced rear yard. All new appliances and new carpet and paint. It'll smell brand new. We are really excited.
The excitement dwindles when I think that we get the keys this coming Monday and the move begins. Friday is the 2nd monthly Guys Night Out. Then Saturday morning is the everybody comes over with trucks to finish the move day. Saturday Evening at 5 is when Brontë's sweet 16 birthday party is held. To save time and space just let me say that that week also includes numerous doctor's appointments for several of us in the household. It will be a challenge......but it IS summer which means we have long days for now. So, anyone with a pick up and muscles....well muscles are optional, we have plenty...........come on out Saturday the 14th around 8 and lend a hand. Otherwise drop me a line on Facebook for more information.

Jul 27: Movin' on......up?
We are trying to find a new home to rent. The issue with Lead and the babies, the absence of any type of furnace or heating system whatsoever and Mary's desire to teach and live in Kenton County have us on the prowl.
We find many houses in the general area here in Boone county. Many look just like this house to the right. Nice places, affordable rent (if a little high), and they meet our requirements. Our requirements you ask? Well lets see. We need at least 4 bedrooms (or 3 BR and a family room that can be used as one). We need a fenced yard. They MUST allow pets (extra deposit/rent not a problem). It must be located in the Kenton County school district.
To the left you will see a representation of what we have been able to find in Kenton County School District. Note that it lacks a fenced yard.
Ok so we have not only found this little gem and its counterparts, but we have found a place with a driveway that is at an 85 degree grade on a curvy river road....we were told we are responsible for snow and ice removal. There was also no place close to park should we be unable to scale the drive in our car. Oh....and there was I think one closet in that unit.
The common thread is no fenced yard. I cant give that up for a good reason. I want to take care of the house. I have pets. If I have no fenced yard they dont get out as much and accidents happen in the house. I want to treat the house right.
Lets not even delve deeply into The Greater Cincy area for housing. Let me just say palces for less money. Unfortunately, the girls could NOT cross state lines to go to school.
So if you know of a place that meets our requirements drop us a line.
